Helyx supported the UK Ministry of Defence Delivery Team who managed the procurement and support of FDG.
Helyx were contracted following a competitive tendering exercise in early 2010, to provide support to requirements management and the production of a the main business case for the FDG Capability which Has now entered service. Deployable GEOINT (Intelligence derived from the analysis and exploitation of geospatial information and imagery to describe, assess and visually depict physical features and geographically referenced activities of Defence interest) is a key operational enabler, and the FDG program provides the UK Armed Forces with a modern and adaptable capability.
Helyx developed a capability roadmap, supported requirements capture and systems requirements definition. We also defined an initial verification and validation matrix, MODAF views and performed initial security work, all culminating in the production of a Statement of Requirement.
Atkins Ltd supported Helyx in risk management and safety aspects of the programme and following the successful completion of the main business case, a contract for supply was let to the Lockheed-Martin UK – led “Team Socrates”. Helyx was awarded a further contract to extend client support throughout the delivery phase. Helyx has subsequently worked with the project team and main users, and with Team Socrates to ensure the effectiveness of the solution, support acceptance activity, and to ensure wider programme aspects are properly addressed.
