The launch of a new Portable product in the Helyx product range

Following the product launch of the Portable version of the HelysGIServer, it was showcased at the DGI Conference in January this year. DGI is Europe’s largest annual gathering dedicated to defence geospatial intelligence.

The development of this unique product has been made possible by the partnership of Helyx and Getac, which brings together specialist Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) expertise and state-of-the-art ruggedized portable server technology. This unique technology was successfully demonstrated for the first time to a government client in March this year.

HelyxGIServers are a range of turnkey solutions that enable the seamless and rapid integration of advanced GI capabilities into clients existing infrastructure. Designed to meet many business needs, from the simple provision of mapping services to support of product development, situational awareness and understanding, to more demanding and complex server-based geoprocessing functionality, there is a HelyxGIServer Model suitable for a variety of needs.

There are many benefits to having dedicated physical GIS server Technology including:
i) Provision of a single central repository for all geospatially referenced data and delivery of information and mapping services.
ii) The data remains secure, in the clients own data centre, on their premises and under their control.
iii) Allows the geographic visualisation of your businesses’ fixed or mobile
iv) Assets to users via an easy to use web-browser interface over a client’s own secure network.

The newest addition to the HelyxGIServer range combines Getac, VMware, Microsoft and Esri technologies to deliver a robust and reliable platform using techniques that have been proven in use with a range of military and commercial organisations worldwide.

The latest briefcase sized Portable Model is fully loaded and based on the new Ultra rugged Full Magnesium Alloy Cased Getac X500 Server that provides quick deployment and can be easily used in emergency or temporary setup environments designed to be brought to the front line and turned on with the same simplicity as a standard notebook.

This latest product in the range will be jointly showcased by Helyx and Getac at DSEi and by then we are expecting to have received the first order for the provision of a dozen units to the UK MOD.
