Helyx charity event draws closer

“On the 14th June 2014 three members of Helyx SIS Ltd (Howard Wilding, Patrick Fryer and Ben Drinkwater) will set off from Lands End to cycle 880 miles to John O’Groats to raise money for two charities – STOLL and MapAction. The Helyx cycling team will be supported by their very own ‘White Van Man’, Nick Sutherland, who will transport bike spares, camping equipment and provide support for accidents and emergencies.

The final preparations for this event included participation the inaugural Pied Piper Sportive; a 104 mile cycling event that started in the Gloucester Rugby Stadium, and wound its way through the Forest of Dean to Chepstow before heading north to Monmouth and returning to Gloucester. The team managed to cover the distance, climbing over 8,000’, in a credible six and a half hours. With only two weeks to go before departing from Lands End this was an excellent challenge to test the fitness and endurance of the riders.

So far Helyx have raised over £3,700 for the chosen charities: MapAction and Stoll.
