Team GEOCORE composed of Envitia, Helyx SIS Ltd, University of Nottingham, University College London (UCL) and QinetiQ Ltd has been awarded a two year £1.9M contract by Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl).
The Advanced Geospatial information and Intelligence Services (AGIS) research programme includes the development of science and technology, methods and techniques to underpin and improve the handling and understanding of GEOINF/GEOINT within Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Other Government Departments (OGDs). The research will be exploitable over the next 5-10 years and will identify opportunities for the rapid development and insertion of geospatial technology.
The scope of the research includes: an assessment of future defence requirements, in addition to undertaking a broad range of Geospatial research to support the MoD ISTAR domain, supporting delivery of the MoD’s Spatial Data Infrastructure. James Prain from Dstl said. “The GEOCORE team has demonstrated its extensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities for the geospatial community and expertise to advance MoD geospatial capability.”
